Glasgow Business Summit 2017: Digital and Ethical Leaders of the 21st Century

By Michael Dore - Posted on 21 September 2017

Strathclyde Business Network, a student organisation led by Michael Dore, is hosting the Glasgow Business Summit 2017 with the theme “Digital and Ethical Leaders of the 21st Century”. Here, Michael presents his thoughts on the upcoming Glasgow Business Summit.

Today, the business landscape worldwide faces dramatic changes and a high level of uncertainties due to several unpredictable factors.

Data and automation are completely disrupting the way companies do business. In addition, the world’s greatest challenges such as climate change, the rise of inequalities, populist ideologies and extremism, increasingly threaten the stability of world order.

Companies can’t continue generating profit without protecting the environment or empowering people. They need to harness advanced technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and contribute to make the world a better place while increasing their performance.

Given Strathclyde’s strategy to help create ethical business leaders of the future, we thought it would be good to mix these two things together – to help future leaders to generate profit while doing something good for the world and inspire positive actions in Scotland.

Through the Glasgow Business Summit 2017, we aim to create a platform to bring together business leaders, scholars, policy makers and students from all walks of life who have the drive and the power to make positive change.

This year’s theme is “Digital and Ethical Leaders of the 21st Century”, where participants of the summit will be able to attend interviews, Q&A’s, panel sessions, companies’ exhibitions and networking sessions.

Over 25 inspiring speakers will share their insight during this summit, including Jim Duffy, Former CEO Entrepreneurial Spark; Jani Kelloniemi, Digital Partner Bain & Company; Gillian Docherty, CEO The Data Lab; Colin Cook, Digital Director Of The Scottish Government; Nick Kuennsberg, Chairman Social Investment Scotland; and Kent Mackenzie, Director Deloitte UK.

This event is open to both professionals and academics who wish to learn about the latest digital trends and successful ethical business models, expand their connections through the networking sessions and present a thoughtful argument and debate on how to solve the current issues that the industry is facing.

In partnership with Clydesdale Bank, Glasgow Business Summit will be held on Thursday, October 12 2017 at the Stenhouse Wing, ground floor of Strathclyde Business School. Tickets can be purchased by clicking here.
